MEFFORD, MATTHEW ROBERT, 39, formerly of Louisville, KY, joined his Heavenly Father Friday, September 3, 2010 in Greensboro, NC.
Matthew was born in 1970 in Louisville, KY. He graduated from Covington Catholic High School and the University of Kentucky. He achieved his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Certified Public Accountant. Matt and Kim were married in 1994 and were blessed with two sons, ages 7 and 5. His successful career included ClubCorp, General Electric (10 yrs), NewPage and most recently, Sealy. Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family and his favorite pastimes included anything to do with cars, golfing, or fishing. Matt was a good father, husband, son, brother and friend. He was blessed with the gift of making people laugh and he lived life to the fullest. Matt was a generous and loving person and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Mulhall Mefford.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kells Mefford; sons, Nathan and Thomas; parents, George and June; brother, Jonathan Mefford (Danielle); sister, Emily Mefford; grandmother Marguerite Mefford; and many family and friends who loved him.
The funeral Mass will be Monday, September 13 at noon at St. Agnes Catholic Church,1920 Newburg Road. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
