MARTIN, Melvin F. (Mel) died March 3, 2011 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank W. and Norma Martin.
He served in the armed services and was retired employee of Louisville Gas and Electric Company. He was also a former member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly E. Tower (Michael); two grandchildren, Lauren and Martin; his former wife, Gertrude (Trudy) Martin, who was by his side during his illness, as well as nephews Eric and Aaron Sexton, nieces Greta Oldach, Elaine Corona and Irene Villanueva, cousins and his Uncle Milton Niemeier.
His service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 9 at Highland Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will from 2-4 p.m and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
