Obituary for Michael Douglas Kremer

KREMER, Michael Douglas, 56, of Louisville, left our physical presence abruptly on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. It was far too soon.

Mike graduated from St. Xavier High School in ’74 and the University of Kentucky in ’79. He went on to attend the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville where he received his Master’s degree in Social Work, later becoming an LCSW Clinical Social Worker.

Mike dedicated his life to serving others, bringing peace and joy into the countless lives he touched with his gentle spirit and sense of humor. A tireless advocate for the underprivileged, Mike ends his storied career at Seven Counties Services as Division Director for Child and Family Services, having previously held many leadership positions throughout the community.

Mike was an avid music lover and a dedicated supporter of the local music community. He had a passion for basketball, antiques, his garden, and the great outdoors. Every aspect of his life overflowed with compassion for those lucky enough to know him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Dorothy Kremer, sister Pat Kremer Sabel and her husband Louie.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years Nora, and what he considered to be his masterpiece, son Nate, whom they created together. He is also survived by brothers Roger (Celine), David (Linda), Rick (Jane) and Dan (Sheryl); and sisters Phyllis Prince (Dallas) and Carolyn Merkley (Bill).

His memorial service will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 15th with visitation to follow until 3:30 pm.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge at 1500 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502 as well as to his favorite radio station WFPK Radio Louisville.
