Nancy L.  Lockard
LOCKARD,
Nancy Lewis, 88 went home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 30, 2014.
She was a member of Southeast Christian Church. Nancy was born October 17, 1925 to the late Woody J. Lewis and Ella Mae Lewis (Walters) in Buffalo, KY (Larue County). The family moved to Louisville during Nancy’s early childhood. She graduated from Louisville Girl’s High School in the class of 1943½. After graduating from high school Nancy was employed briefly in the dress department of Kaufmen Strauss Department Store. She later was employed as a coin teller by the Southern Bell Telephone Company.
She was promoted to service representative and held that position until she became a stay at home mom. After her three children were grown, she was employed by Bacon’s Department Store in their dress department. She retired from Bacon’s after 10 years of service.
Nancy was preceded in death by her three sisters, Lucille Lynch, Virginia Wolff and Ada Wood “Cindy” Lewis; and one grandson, Brent Boggs.
Nancy is survived by her husband Al, of 65 years; three daughters, Sharon Doane, Gail Bosley (Lowell) and Ellen Burks (Steve); four grandchildren, Bryan Hardy, Ben Bosley (Erin), and Katie and Nick Burks; and one great-grandchild, Chapman Bosley.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff at Klondike Manor, Hosparus of Louisville, Caretenders and Nancy’s caregivers.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Southeast Christian Church.
