Obituary for Otto Joseph Payne

Payne, Otto, Joseph “Joe”, 60, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital with his family and friends by his side.
He retired as deputy chief from Jefferson County Department of Corrections after 32 years of service with the department. Joe was currently employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice as the Director of Placement Services.
Joe was a member of the American Jail Association, the American Correctional Association, Kentucky Jailers Association, National Institute of Corrections, and Louisville Police Department Commanders Association. He was also a soccer official with the KHSAA and was a member of the Kentucky Soccer Official Association.
Joe graduated from Manual High School, The University of Kentucky and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his Son, Otto Joel Payne; Daughter, Nicollette Bonnie Payne; Grandson, John Gabriel Payne; Mother, Billie Payne; Brother, George T. Payne, Sr.; Fiancé, Karen Sweazy; Aunt, Jennie Ensor; Niece, Rachel Rodgers and Nephew, George T. Payne, Jr.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 South 3rd St., with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 -8:-00 pm Monday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
