Obituary for Phillip Jacob Cubranic

CUBRANIC, Phillip Jacob “Jack”
88, passed away Saturday, December 31st at Golden Living Camelot.
He was born to Phillip Jacob Cubranic and Mary Alice Moore on August 3, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was a graduate of the 1942½ class of Male High School. He married Mary Ann Shain on July 23, 1948. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann of 38½ years and brother, Marion Lee Cubranic.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane Carol Layton and husband, Mike of Terre Haute, IN and Debra Kay Reh and husband, Jim of Louisville. Grandchildren are Christopher Brett Layton, Kevin Joseph Reh and Abigail Grace Layton.
He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1986 after nearly 25 years. He was a former member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He served in the Air Force Base Unit Air Transport Command of the United States Army in World War II.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, followed by interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Highlands.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or the Mary Ann Cubranic scholarship fund at the University of Louisville School of Music.
