Obituary for Phyllis Cooksey

COOKSEY, PHYLLIS TANDY, 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 after a short struggle with cancer.
She was born on November 11, 1944 in Lebanon, KY, the only child of Marion and Nellie Tandy. She graduated from Georgetown College in 1966 with a degree in Music Education, an education she put to good use throughout her life as a music teacher at Jeffersontown H.S., as a chorus teacher at Myers Middle School, as a private piano teacher, and as a longtime member of the choir at Deer Park Baptist Church, which she attended from 1966 until the present.
She is survived by her husband, Adrian Cooksey; two children, Noah Cooksey and Sarah Villarreal; two grandchildren, Hannah and Isaiah Cooksey; her daughter-in-law, Mary Cooksey; and her son-in-law, Chip Villarreal, all of whom will dearly miss her sincerity, her sharp humor, and a love that expressed itself most of all in always, always being there.
Her funeral will be held at Deer Park Baptist Church this Friday at 11 a.m. with visitation preceding the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Deer Park is located at 1733 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40205.
