MURPHY, RICHARD PAUL, 81, of Louisville, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East.
Born in Wheeling, WV, he was an Army Korean War veteran, retired senior vice-president of Bank of Louisville. He graduated from Bellarmine College and was a KY Colonel. His volunteered work included St. John's Center for the Homeless, Crisis Center, Meals on Wheels Program, and the J-Town Senior Citizen Center over a span of ten years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Murphy.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Jo Ann Walker; son, Michael T. Murphy (Kathleen), Kathleen A. Pierce (Michael); and grandchildren, Caitlyn Murphy, Ian Pierce, and Jacob Pierce.
His memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2011 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Ln, with internment to follow in St. Anthonys Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN.. Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
