Obituary for Ronald Eugene McKiernan

McKIERNAN, RONALD EUGENE, passed away on April 6, 2012. He died sober, a trusted servant.
He was born May 23, 1935.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine McKiernan and his brother, Michael McKiernan.
Ron is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Ann Voit; children, Karen Hagan, Laura Gaeta (Bob), Patrick (Robin), Ronnie (Karen), and Maria Weurth (Joe Paul); his grandchildren, Colleen and Sean Hagan, Alex Gaeta, Carolyn McLean, Angela Tapp, Michaela McKiernan, Dillon Breidenbach, Candice Brunton, Tara Burns (Jason), Max McKiernan, Lindsey Little (Shelby), Addie Mills, Sean Wuerth, Kelly Lawrence and Kerry St. John; his two great-grandchildren Levi and Theodore Little; brother John McKiernan, Jr., and his sister-in-law, Norma Oeswein; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
Ron was the founder and owner of Certified Counseling Services. Through his counseling work Ron assisted hundreds of men and women along with their families in their recovery. He was a graduate of Flaget High School class of 1953 and a faithful and devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the last 32 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his church, St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane at 10:00 a.m., with burial at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road. Visitation will be at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 1-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family have expressed memorial gifts be made to Hosparus and the Catholic Radio Station, Holy Family Radio.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs at Brown Cancer Center, Baptist East Hospital, Hosparus and the Altenheim.
