Condolence From: Pam (Gast) Seeley
Condolence: We will miss Aunt Ruth. She was as beautiful inside as she was outside. When talking with her, her warm smile and bright eyes made you feel like you were the only one in the room. She radiated kindness and sincerity. She was a very special person and we feel fortunate to have the memories of both her and Uncle Charles. Her devotion to Uncle Charles and to ‘family' was remarkable. She was one of the strongest, yet sweetest people I've ever known – she will always remain a role model for me.

Chip and Duane, you lost both parents in such a short time - you're in our thoughts and prayers.

We loved Aunt Ruth.

Condolence: I was saddened to read of the passing of Mrs. Arbegust. She was my third grade teacher at St. Edwards in 1968 (wow 45 years ago)and also one of MY favorite teachers ever. She put so much extra heart and energy into her teaching. She exuded cheerfulness and I can still hear her hearty laugh. I have a story to share about Mrs. Arbegust. Once we had some assignment requiring us to take home the school's "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" wooden rulers. The next day, some people (including me) forgot to bring the ruler back to school. For those who forgot, Mrs. Arbegust assigned us to write a paper about why we were supposed to bring the ruler back to school. I knew that there was something more to this than "If you don't bring back the ruler you have to write a paper as punishment." However, my third grade mind struggled with what I could write besides that. I sought assistance from my mom (one of the rare times I needed assistance with an assignment). My mother explained to me about "responsibility" and how when you are not responsible there are consequences. For example, if you don't water the plants, they will die, and if you don't feed the pets, they will starve. So, off I went and wrote my paper. The next day after I turned it in, she read my "punishment" paper to the entire class, because it was unlike what everyone else had written. (they all wrote "if you don't bring back the school's property you will get in trouble and you will have to write a paper as punishment). To this day, I ofter think of Mrs. Arbegust (and my mom) when I am watering the plants. So, though she may be gone, she still resides in my heart. I love the picture of her. She looks, in it, so much like she did back then. A genuine smile and a twinkle in her eye. (P.S. I was surprised to find that my own cousin, Theresa Pike Zeller, has already contributed to the guest book. I didn't realize she also was a student of Mrs. Arbegust).

Condolence: I am very sorry about your loss. I'd like to tell a funny story about something that happened a few years ago. My husband's uncle Merritt had a birthday party at their club house. I was introduced to a man whose last name was Arbegust. I proceeded to tell him that my favorite teacher of all time was Mrs. Argegust. I told him she used to teach at St. Edwards (I'm 57 and she taught me in the 2nd grade.) I went on and on about her and asked if she was any relation. He started laughing and said it was his wife. He kidded that someone put me up to raving about her. He then took me over and I got to talk to her. She was a very special lady. I am so sorry about your loss.

Condolence: Mrs. Arbegust was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Edward School. She was one of my favorite teachers throughout my school years! I have fond memories of the activities we did in her class. She was loving, patient, and one of those teachers who does more for their students than just teach the lesson plan! She was one of a kind! My prayers are with her family.
