Obituary for Thedore "Ted" Z. Metcalf

METCALF, Theodore, Z., 96, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, August 08, 2014.
Born in Lafayette, IN, he was a decorated U.S. Navy WWII veteran and manager of Bell South Telephone Co. for 41 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion Post #201, Masonic Lodge in Harlan, KY, and charter member of Woodhaven Country Club. He was an elder at the Meadowview Presbyterian Church, a watercolor artist, and avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Carr Metcalf; and sisters, Doris and Alleene
Ted is survived by his wife of 30 years, Virginia Metcalf; sons, Theodore “Ted” Metcalf II (Mirjam) and Gary Metcalf (Linda); stepsons, Douglas Noel (Ginny) and Gary Noel (Barbara); 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 11 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 pm on Sunday at Highlands.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to his church, or Kosair Children’s Hospital.
What a profound loss! A true class act of a man. Definitely one of the biggest positive influences in our lives. The world will not be the same.
