MEYER, Thomas Gordon, 54, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013 at his home.
Born in Louisville, he was a graduate of St. Raphael Elementary and St. Xavier High School where he was a 1976 All Region and 1977 All Sectional baseball team captain, and won the 1977 Coaches Award. A 1981 graduate of Bellarmine University where he played baseball for 4 years and was Knights Baseball captain in 1981, Tom was named outstanding defensive player and won the 1981 Coaches Award. He was a retired executive from the Louisville Water Company, and belonged to St. Raphael Catholic Church and Wildwood Country Club. Tom was a Paisley Panther and led St. Raphael basketball to 3 city championships as a coach. He continued to play softball for Six Pac and Rev’s Boys.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Vickers) Meyer; children, Nina Lynn Meyer of Powell, OH, Tyler Thomas Meyer (Dr. Jenny Elek) of Williamsburg, VA and Aaron Wesley Meyer of Louisville; parents, Leonard & Mary Lou Meyer; brother, Leonard W. Meyer III (Wayne Adler) of New York, NY; sisters, Susan Moore, Joyce Meyer (Lisa Stemler) and Lynnie Meyer (Lori Scott); and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Tom’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th at St. Raphael, 2141 Lancashire Avenue, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
The family specifically requests NO flowers; in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Bellarmine University baseball, to support the creation of the Tom Meyer Bull Pen.
