Walter “Junie”, Jr., 77, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015.
Born in New Albany, IN he retired from the USPS as a letter carrier after 42 years of service and was in the Army reserves. Junie was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, a member of the first graduating class of Our Lady of Providence and a graduate of St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, TX. In retirement Junie loved his job as a driver of the courtesy shuttle at Bill Collins Ford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, Sr. and Mary Kahl; and brother, Michael P. “Micky” Kahl.
Junie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Marsha Kemple; sons, Troy P. Kahl (Rhonda), Kelly T. Kahl (Rhonda Dowdy) and Tony C. Kahl (Dina); sister, Patricia Ivey (Charles); grandchildren, Shane (SSgt-USAF), Matthew, Ryne (A1C-USAF), Autumn, Makenzie, Ian (PV2-Army), Delanie and Austin; great-grandchildren, Shane, Jr. and Gracee; as well as Taylor and Jordan Dowdy.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 South 5th St with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hosparus of Louisville.
