86, passed away on February 9, 2010 at his home. A native of Caneyville KY, he was retired from Reynolds Metals. A World War II Navy veteran, he served in both the Pacific and European theatres including the D Day Invasion of Normandy Beach. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Daymon Evans and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, LaVerne (Schaffner) Evans. Beloved father of sons, Dr. Daymon Evans (Jane) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Daniel Evans (Lynn) of Easley, South Carolina and daughter, Elaine Evans of Louisville, and two very caring grandchildren, Jason and Casey of Easley, South Carolina and beloved cousin Mary (Pruitt) Embry. Visitation will be Thursday 2-8 p.m. at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. and funeral at Highlands on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus or charity of your choice.
