Obituary for Phyllis Ann Trevathan

Phyllis Ann Trevathan
TREVATHAN, Phyllis Ann, 77, loving wife and mother, died July 28, 2015 at Nazareth Home after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Murfreesboro, TN, the former Phyllis Murray graduated with a B.A. in Music from David Lipscomb University in Nashville. She married attorney Charles Trevathan of Louisville in 1960 and was an active member of the Church of Christ. Cooking great meals and comforting the sick and elderly were among her particular gifts. There was always music in the home and the couple played piano and sang at nursing homes and the many social gatherings they loved to host. In 1987 she moved to Abilene, TX where Charles was general counsel and Vice President of Student Affairs at Abilene Christian University. Phyllis loved singing in the Classical Chorus of Abilene and working in Career Services. She was an admired mentor and friend to countless students and a dedicated volunteer, working for Ronald McDonald house, the M.S. Society, food bank, and Meals on Wheels.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Charles, and her son-in-law, Bobby Bowie.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Carol Turner (Russ) and their son Jackson; Julie Bowie and her son Aidan; and Karen Gunn (Tim) and their children, Elora, William, and Charlie; and nephews Edwin and Phil Trevathan and families.

Her memorial visitation will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 12-2 pm & 4-6:00 pm with a service immediately following at 6:00 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
