Condolences

Condolence From: Patricia van Essche (Thieneman)
Condolence: The outpouring of love from family and friends was a true testament to my Father. His kindness to all he met was incredible. As one of his children and daughters, it was wonderful to gather and hear stories of how my Dad, "Paul" -
One of the first visitors to the Highlands Funeral Home was one of my Fathers dear and best friends, "Tommy" who could not wait to pay his respects. He made us laugh, the way he made our Dad laugh and reminded us of how "fun" he was and all the good times they had.

Although I have not lived in Kentucky for years, I love knowing that I can go back at any time and feel that everything he worked hard for lives on. He certainly did not have an easy life but he never gave up and always made everyone feel special. He always told me that give and that, "Christmas" should be more than one day a year.

I thank my sisters, my brothers and all the family and friends that came to show their love for my Dad and my Mom. I thank all those who have been dedicated to "Paul's Fruit and Vegetable Markets" and to everyone who was kind to my Dad.

To my Dad's sisters and my Aunts, I love you and think of you, our family and all those that shall miss him. I would like to ask of each of you to please continue to visit my Mother at Episcopal Nursing Home and share stories of the "fun" times had and to come.

Love to all who loved my Dad and who cared for him. Thank-you to Liz who has certainly commandeered the ship and to each of my sisters, Mary Hartman, Sally Thieneman and brothers, Paul Thieneman Jr., Phil Thieneman, Doug Thieneman and to all the extended, David Hartman, John Teasley and JC van Essche. Let's all join hands often and share stories of our dear Father.

Condolence: Uncle Paul was a great guy.He raised a wonderful loving family with my Aunt Jean. They spent time with their children and the success and lives their kids have had is a testimony to Paul & Jean. He worked hard all of his life.He built a business that has become a piece of the fabric of the quilt that is Ky.
Uncle Paul was always generous with his time and his advantages in life. I have heard story after story of the kind things Paul has done for people from helping perfect strangers with a little extra special deal from the fruit market to his many contributions to charities not only with financial contributions but also with his time.A lot of people will miss his kindness, generosity and fun character. He was a great inspiration in my life on how to grow a successful business, family & life. I am sad he has left us.I will miss him as will many others whose life he has touched.

Condolence: Paul impacted my life greatly from a very early age...like many of my family members I worked at one of Paul's stores. The infrastructure of quality products and great customer service he and his family created in their stores taught me the value of a hard days work. I learned invaluable skills and strongly believe that if I hadn't worked for Paul in my teens I wouldn't have the same quality work ethic I have today. Although it's been many years since I last shook Paul's giant hand, I'll miss him dearly. My warmest thoughts and condolences to Sally, Liz, Paul Jr, Phil, Doug, Liz and the all of the Thieneman family.

Condolence From: Dr.Michael Scholtz
Condolence: One of the greatest gifts God gives man is a good friend. Paul was a wonderful friend to my Dad, Ticky, and to the entire Scholtz family. I have many wonderful memories going to Paul's fruit market with my Dad on Barrett Avenue. The warm welcoming from Paul, the smells of the fruit, and the creaking of the wood floor beneath our feet are still imprinted in my mind.....and that was over 50 years ago. Paul and his entire family are a blessing. My prayer of thanksgiving today will be for a wonderful friend like Paul and the entire Thieneman family.

Condolence From: Martha Thieneman
Condolence: I always loved coming to Uncle Paul and Aunt Jean's home for the family reunion. They were always so kind and welcoming. I always knew Uncle Paul loved his family by the huge grin I would spot on his face as he laughed and talked either everyone. I know he was very special to my dad (Mike) too. He will be missed. Sending love and prayers to all of the family.
