Davis, William Lee, 28, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012. He graduated from Ballard High School, class of 2002, where he and his best friend, Joel Zimmerman, founded the Ballard Ice Hockey Team. He graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity and Beargrass Christian Church. He was commissioned in the Air Force at his 2006 college graduation. He was a Captain in the Air Force, most recently stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He had just returned to the United States on Saturday night. William’s passions included University of Louisville sports, socializing with his friends, traveling, horseback riding, and polo which he had just recently learned to play. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Lola Messick, and an aunt, Kam Messick. He is survived by his parents, Helen and Tom Davis, brother, Thomas Davis, grandparents, Al and Bobbie Davis of Charlotte, NC, “Adopted Mom”, Dorrie Zimmerman, “Adopted Aunt and Uncle”, Lena and Richard Spencer, close cousins, Janice and Doug Raymond, his aunt and uncle, Joe and Tamara Davis, uncle, Allen Davis, and numerous cousins. He also leaves many friends throughout the world to cherish his memory including best friends, Joel Zimmerman, Casey and Lee Anderson, and Stacey Vance.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday at Highlands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisville Zoo.
